New Book Captures the Spirit of Anne Morrow Lindbergh
"A beautiful, very wise, and gentle book-immediately important to
those who read it, and just the right kind of tribute to my mother. It's a gift
to ME, among others." –
Reeve
Lindbergh, President of The Charles A. and Anne Morrow Lindbergh Foundation and Youngest
Daughter of Anne & Charles Lindbergh
Gift from the Sea, Anne Morrow Lindbergh's classic memoir about developing a
spiritual "room of one's own," has sold millions of copies and
inspired generations of women everywhere. Now for the first time, an author
tells her own story of being transformed by Anne's elegant style and profound
spirituality. Kim Dickson's Gifts from the Spirit, endorsed and applauded by
Reeve Lindbergh, the author of three highly acclaimed books about her mother,
weaves together timeless sayings and quotations from Anne's books, diaries, and
letters, showing how they are as true for women today as they were for Anne's
first readers.
Each chapter of Gifts from the Spirit begins with a meditative passage from
Anne, followed by an explanation of where Anne was in her own life journey when
she penned the immortal words–her courtship to the world-famous aviator Charles
Lindbergh, her early marriage, motherhood, and her own writing career. Dickson
then relates Anne's experiences to her own life as a mother, teacher, and
author, and the lives of contemporary women of all backgrounds.
Gifts from the Spirit moves between the lives of Lindbergh and Dickson to
serve as an example of how women today can stand against the tide and grow into
the fullness of their own being, as Anne did before them.
Crossroad is pleased to be publishing Gifts from the Spirit during the 75th
anniversary celebrations of Charles Lindbergh's historic trans-Atlantic
crossing.
